Crowds lined the streets of the bucolic village of Kemble today to catch a glimpse of the royal guests attending the wedding of NHS paediatric nurse Harriet Sperling and Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne. Kate Middleton—Catherine, Princess of Wales—as well as King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, and Prince William all gathered in Gloucestershire to pay their respects at All Saints’ Church, where the bride wore a high-necked lace gown with an almost 10-foot train designed by Kate Middleton favorite Emilia Wickstead.
While she opted for a surprising designer for a public outing earlier this week—wearing a heart-motif Rodarte dress to attend a reception at St James’s Palace in London commemorating the 125th anniversary of Cancer Research UK—for today’s anticipated nuptials, Kate Middleton delivered a lesson in elegant guest dressing. An antidote to the inclement weather, Catherine wore a blush-hued knee-length dress from old faithful Roland Mouret, featuring drop-waist pleating and a button-down notched collar. Proving that lighter tones are perfectly acceptable for a summer wedding despite the drizzle, she topped off the look with the now Royal Warrant-ed Kiki McDonough double drop earrings, and a boater-style hat by Jane Taylor with Gianvito Rossi court shoes in similar hues.
Kate also wore a Nigel Milne Birthright three-strand pearl bracelet, formerly belonging to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
The tactile detailing and blush-toned shade of the Princess of Wales’s dress also complemented Harriet Sperling’s head-turning wedding gown, crafted from Italian ivory crepe and appliquéd with wildflower-motif Leavers lace, a nod to the blooms native to Gloucestershire, where both the bride and groom grew up. Wedding celebrations will continue into the afternoon at nearby Gatcombe Park, the home of Princess Anne, where Peter Phillips spent his childhood.
