Actor shares The Bluff premiere images, showcasing a blend of heritage and couture along with 43 carats
PC shines in drape and diamonds…
Global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas turned heads at the premiere of The Bluff, blending heritage with high fashion in a look she described as a tribute to both her character and the growing global influence of Indian design.
Sharing photographs on social media ahead of the film’s premiere, Chopra Jonas showcased a vibrant yellow draped ensemble that reimagined the traditional saree with a contemporary edge. The structured silhouette featured precise tailoring, a dramatic trail and a thigh-high slit, giving the classic drape a couture update.
“Wearing this is an ode to Ercell Bodden, my character in The Bluff. In the opening of the film she appears with a dupatta over her head, a subtle but meaningful marker of identity and strength,” she wrote.
“I love a saree. And when I saw this piece walk down the couture runway last month, it felt like a saree with a modern twist. We immediately called Gaurav and asked him to hold it for me.”
“There’s a quiet power in its simplicity. The precision of the tailoring, the way it drapes and moves, felt both rooted and forward looking, and the bright yellow is so synonymous with the colorful palette of India. To me, this piece is a testament to the growing global scope of Indian fashion and how beautifully our heritage continues to evolve,” she added.
At the Los Angeles premiere of her movie, Chopra opted for yet another statement look that nodded to her role as a former pirate in the action thriller. She wore a custom chocolate-brown leather cuirass paired with a coordinating high-low skirt by Who Decides War.
Costume designer Antoinette Messam revealed on Instagram that the cuirass was part of Chopra’s original on-screen costume. “Still in awe,” Messam wrote. “When @priyankachopra chose to wear the cuirass from her hero ‘Bloody Mary’ costume to The Bluff premiere, my heart was full. Such a #ProudAunty moment. Thank you, Priyanka, this reminded me why I love what I do.”
Chopra Jonas completed the look with 43 carats of Bulgari diamonds, including a yellow gold High Jewelry Monete choker set with onyx, pavé diamonds and an ancient Roman coin, with matching earrings and multiple rings. She styled her hair in a long, brunette-to-red ombre (inset). Agencies
