The Princess of Wales hosted a reception this afternoon at Windsor Castle for the England Women’s Rugby team, following their World Cup win last September. For the occasion, Kate wore one of her favourite McQueen suits: the vivid red leaf crepe drop hem long sleeve blazer and matching wide-leg trousers. She kept her accessories simple, opting for one of her favourite necklaces and a pair of earrings we’ve only seen once previously.
Kate chose the Auree necklace that she’s worn multiple times; it’s part of the brand’s Bali Birthstone collection, featuring a 9ct gold disc with engraving and a garnet. First noticed in 2022, the Princess of Wales has since worn it on many occasions for less-formal events.
Kate’s earrings, meanwhile, are less ubiquitous in her rotation. Rather than opt for her go-to diamonds, many of which carry a sentimental link to both the late Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana, the Princess of Wales instead chose a pair of pearl earrings in 18ct yellow gold. Made by Katherine James, the vintage jewels are set with five pearls in each earring, with strands of gold that resemble a coral reef.
Kate first wore these earrings in February of last year when she visited HMP Styal, a prison and young offender institution for women ages 18 and older. Their oversized nature mark them out as quite different from the Princess of Wales’ other jewellery, although they’re still beautifully classic in their design.
